Rs 5.7-lakh scholarship for cops’ children

JAMMU: Director General of Police (DGP) SP Vaid has sanctioned a special reward and meritorious scholarship of Rs 5,77,000 in favour of the 141 wards of serving police personnel, who have secured above 75 per cent marks in the Class VIII annual examination during the academic session 2016-17.

Director General of Police (DGP) SP Vaid has sanctioned a special reward and meritorious scholarship of Rs 5,77,000 in favour of the 141 wards of serving police personnel, who have secured above 75 per cent marks in the Class VIII annual examination during the academic session 2016-17.

The scholarship has been sanctioned out of the Central Police Welfare Fund. The contributory fund has been created to encourage and boost the talented school-going children of the police personnel. In all, 72 students have been granted reward. Sixtyone children who have secured above 90 per cent in the annual examination during the academic session 2016-17 were provided Rs 3,000 each while 22 wards were provided Rs 10,000 each for clearing the examination conducted by the UPSC, PSC, BOPEE and Central Board.

They include Suhail Qasim Mir, Tabassum Hassan, Shahiesta Malik, Shafkat Ulla, Aabid Nazir, Sonali Kotwal, Alka Kumari, Iram Jan, Arshi Sharma, Pankaj Sharma, Rahul Chadgal, Tajamul Islam, Aarif Manzoor, Yasir Bilal Sheikh, Dheeraj Anthal, Gunjyot Singh, Akhil Sharma, Faisal Ullah Khan, Najam-us-Saqib, Ishrat Shafi and Kifayat Ali.
