Rajouri, November 17

More than 57 per cent petrol pumps situated across Rajouri district do not fulfil the guidelines laid down by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India.

This came to light when the district administration conducted a survey today under a state government circular.

Under the circular, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhry, Deputy Commissioner, had constituted various teams under the supervision of Subdistrict Magistrates and Tehsildars concerned to check petrol pumps.

The teams simultaneously conducted surprise checking of 21 petrol pumps operating in the district and found that only nine had all the basic amenities for the consumers.

Under the ministry’s guidelines, all petrol pumps must have facilities like toilets, drinking water, free air pressure check, fire safety and overall security.
