Srinagar, June 24

Former ministers, legislators and senior leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from south Kashmir on Monday congregated to discuss and devise strategy for the forthcoming Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, a party spokesman said.

The meeting was chaired by PDP vice-president Abdul Rahman Veeri. Once a bastion of the PDP, the party faced a humiliating defeat in the recent Lok Sabha poll from the Anantnag LS seat.

“The meeting held threadbare discussions regarding the measures that are needed to be taken to ensure impressive performance in the state elections,” a party spokesman said.

Addressing the participants, Veeri underlined the need for the door-to-door campaign, strategising party’s reach-out programme and also laid emphasis on a closer coordination between the party functionaries, activists and supporters.
