BJP’s former legislator Ranbir Singh Pathania on Wednesday said since there was a stark difference in area-wise allocation of resources in Assembly as well as parliamentary constituencies, there was a need to redraw constituencies for equitable development across the state.

He said this in context of a proposed move by the Central government for fresh delimitation of constituencies and appointment of a delimitation commission in J&K

Pathania also hailed the interest shown by the Home Ministry to set in motion the delimitation exercise by adopting a fair and uniform criterion for the delimitation of constituencies (Parliament, Legislative Assembly and panchayats) in proportion to the total electorate.
