Maintaining that no religion is bad, former Union minister and National Conference (NC) chief Farooq Abdullah today said the teachings of all religions in the world was same and it was the people who were using religion for the fulfillment of their selfish motives.

The former J&K CM was speaking on the sidelines of a prize-distribution function of a private school at the University of Jammu here today.

Narrating an incident, Farooq said: “A few years back, I was attending a function outside the state where I met Narendra Modi, who was Gujarat Chief Minister that time. I told him that I want to see the India where there was no religion issue.”

He, however, again reiterated his statement that Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) was a part of Pakistan.

Farooq also criticised the state government and the Centre for the pathetic condition of the Jammu Airport. “It is unfortunate that the only airport of Jammu is waiting for expansion and the runway is also in a bad condition. I have taken up the issue with the authorities in Delhi a number of times, but in vain.”

Flayed the governments, Farooq said: “It is sad that widows of the martyrs, whether they are soldiers or officers, are really struggling hard for their survival.”

“It is our collective duty to look after these brave women whose husbands made supreme sacrifices for the motherland,” he added.
