Srinagar, July 10

The National Investigation Agency (NIA), probing the funding of secessionist activities in Kashmir, today attached the residence of hardliner Kashmiri separatist leader Asiya Andrabi for allegedly supporting terror activities.

The agency got the approval as required by the law from J&K DGP Dilbgah Singh to seize the house of the incarcerated Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) chief in Soura area of Srinagar under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

“Today, the NIA attached a house belonging to Asiya Andrabi situated at 90 Feet Road Saura, Srinagar,” said an NIA spokesperson.

In the NIA letter, chief investigating officer Vikas Katheria, an SP in the agency, said he had “reason to believe that property represents proceeds of terrorism and has been used for the furtherance of terror activities of a proscribed terrorist organisation DeM”.

Andrabi, along with two associates, was arrested in July 2018 on charges of working for the secession of J&K from Union of India. — TNS
