Jammu, September 16

A delegation of the Jammu Chamber of Traders Federation (JCTF) will meet Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday to apprise her of the problems being faced by traders and transporters of Jammu and Kashmir.

The development comes two days after the Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industries (JCCI) deferred its call for Jammu bandh on Monday.

A delegation of traders from Jammu and Ladakh, led by JCTF president Neeraj Anand, has left for New Delhi to meet the Finance Minister on Tuesday afternoon.

The JCTF had shared stage with the JCCI for the first time on Thursday in support of the bandh called by the traders and transporters, which was later deferred by the JCCI, transporters and the Kisan Council at a meeting with the Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, in which the traders were given time to meet the Governor of Thursday. The JCTF was not part of the meeting with the Jammu DC on Saturday.

Anand informed The Tribune that the delegation of the JCTF will tell the Union Finance Minister about the “sinking business establishments” in the state, particularly due to the one-time token tax on new motor vehicles, taxes levied by the JMC, problems being faced by apple traders and transporters, seeking extension in the date of filing IT returns and GST, which were delayed by the non-availability of the Internet in the state.
