Two ultrasound facilities sealed in Rajouri

RAJOURI: The district health authorities here have sealed ultrasound machines in two clinics and issued a show-cause notice for violations under the Pre-Conception & Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PC&PNDT) Act, 1994.

The district health authorities here have sealed ultrasound machines in two clinics and issued a show-cause notice for violations under the Pre-Conception & Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PC&PNDT) Act, 1994.

A team of the health department, led by Dr Sunil Sharma, chief medical officer (CMO), along with district health officer (DHO) and other senior officers, inspected three clinics in Rajouri town on Monday and reportedly undertook verification of equipment and examination of records.

The inspection was carried out on the directions of Deputy Commissioner MA Asad, after several complaints were received related to violation of PC&PNDT Act.

“Out of the three ultrasound clinics/ facilities, two were found violating the Act. These were sealed and issued show cause notices,” the CMO said.

The sealed ultrasound clinics/ facilities include Astha Rajouri and Life Line and Care, owned by Vijay Kumar, a resident of Tandwal, and Asifa Amin, a resident of Rajouri.

“Inspection of such clinics will continue in the future,” the DC said. — OC
