Salary of 78 absent employees withheld

Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar, Angrez Singh Rana on Thursday took serious note of the complaints regarding unauthorised absence of employees from government offices in the district. He ordered withholding of the salaries of 78 employees for unauthorised absence from duty.

The order issued by the DC said during a surprise inspection of various government offices and schools on May 15, conducted by tehsildars and naib tehsildars as per the directions of the DC, various employees were found on unauthorised absence from duty.

The order said no proper procedure as envisaged in the J&K Civil Services Leave Rules, 1979, was being followed. It said it had also come to the notice of the DC that the employees left their offices, schools without any proper relieving from the head of the office or institution and their whereabouts were doubtful for the inspecting officers. The order called it a violation of the standing instructions.

The order said the DC was keeping a vigil on the habitual and chronic offenders, whose cases shall be recommended to the government for termination of their services.

It said the District Officers were designated as inquiry officers and shall submit the factual report to the DC office by or before May 25.

‘No procedure followed’
