Seven shops, three houses gutted in Kishtwar

DODA: At least three houses and seven shops were gutted in fire in the mountainous Kishtwar district on Saturday.

At least three houses and seven shops were gutted in fire in the mountainous Kishtwar district on Saturday.

The incident took place in the Dedpath area around 1.30 am.

Fire and emergency services rushed to the spot with the single vehicle available with them. With the help of a pump, water was lifted from the Chenab river for about two hours which brought the fire under control.

However, some garment and and ration shops were completely gutted in the fire.

Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar, Angrez Singh Rana said, “Seven shops and three houses were gutted after some grass dumped inside caught fire. We have provided immediate relief to victims and have also directed the Tehsildar to prepare a report of damages so that the compensation process can be started.” — OC
