Army man on leave shot dead by militants in Sopore

SRINAGAR: An off-duty Army man was shot dead by militants in north Kashmir’s Sopore sub district on Saturday.

An off-duty Army man was shot dead by militants in north Kashmir’s Sopore sub district on Saturday.

Muhammad Rafiq Yatoo, of the Territorial Army, who was on leave, was shot and critically injured at Warpora, Sopore, when he was returning home after offering prayers. 

Rafi was taken to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, a police officer said. 

Senior police and paramilitary officers reached the spot immediately after the firing incident. Security forces have launched a manhunt to nab the attackers. — With agencies
