Srinagar, March 26

Ram Madhav, national general secretary of BJP, said on Tuesday that the party would win all three Lok Sabha seats from Jammu and Ladakh regions and was hopeful of ‘going forward’ in the Valley, where the party is yet to emerge victorious in any Parliamentary or Assembly elections.

“We will win two seats in Jammu and one in Ladakh and try our best in Kashmir so that our candidates go forward....our party is fighting all six seats. We will better 2014 results this time,” he said.

Madhav, who had played a key role in the formation of the last PDP-BJP coalition government in the state, was here to hold a meeting with senior party leaders and review preparations for the upcoming Parliamentary elections. Three BJP Valley candidates — Maqbool War (Baramulla), Sofi Yousuf (Anantnag) and Khalid Jehangir (Srinagar), besides state general secretary (organisation) Ashok Kaul and district presidents of the Valley, were present in the meeting.

He said the BJP wanted to oust politicians resorting to ‘double-speak’ from the three Valley Lok Sabha seats.

“All valley seats should go to those who stand for unity of the country. Those who speak one language in New Delhi and another in Srinagar should be kept away,” he said.

On reports that Pakistan would allow a corridor for Sharda Peeth pilgrimage in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK), Madhav said “Leadership under the Prime Minister will decide....(but) terrorism is the biggest challenge. All other issues will be resolved once the issue of terrorism is tackled.”

BJP state spokesman Altaf Thakur said Madhav had a detailed meeting with the candidates to chalk out a strategy. “He met all three candidates and district presidents to review preparations,” he said.
