11,000 attend Army job rally

JAMMU: Braving frequent shelling by Pakistan along the LoC and inclement weather, as many as 11,000 youth took part in the 10-day Army recruitment rally in Poonch district, a defence spokesman said today.

Braving frequent shelling by Pakistan along the LoC and inclement weather, as many as 11,000 youth took part in the 10-day Army recruitment rally in Poonch district, a defence spokesman said today. The rally had begun on March 11.

In all, 198 youths have been selected for written examination to be conducted on April 7, the spokesman said. He said the rally was conducted to recruit soldiers for different categories to include clerks, general duty and tradesman.

“Despite inclement weather and security situation in the region for the past month, the youth turned up in large numbers for the recruitment... About 11,000 candidates from Poonch, Rajouri, Sunderbani and Akhnoor participated in the rally,” the spokesman said. — PTI
