Need to uphold Constitution: Rana

JAMMU: National Conference (NC) provincial president Devender Singh Rana today described the Constitution as the essence of the world’s largest democracy and called for imbibing and upholding its values of inclusiveness, equality and social justice.

National Conference (NC) provincial president Devender Singh Rana today described the Constitution as the essence of the world’s largest democracy and called for imbibing and upholding its values of inclusiveness, equality and social justice.

“Adhering to these will be biggest tribute to the architect of the Construction of India BR Ambedkar,” Rana said while paying homage to the visionary statesman on his death anniversary at a function held at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan this morning while describing him as the father of Indian democracy.

The provincial president said Ambedkar could not be confined to any myopic prism on party lines as he belonged to India, lived for India and envisioned a great future for the country.

Rana dwelt upon the life and political struggle of Ambedkar, saying he worked tirelessly for fostering an egalitarian society and shedding caste discrimination in the country.

Prominent among those present on the occasion included Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, Haji Mohammad Hussain, Bashir Ahmed Wani, Vijay Laxami Dutta, Abdul Gani Teli, Swaran Latta, Pardeep Bali, Rashida Begum, Ashok Kumar Dogra, Som Raj Taroch, Tarshem Khullar, and others.

‘Ambedkar worked against caste bias’ 

Devender Singh Rana said Ambedkar could not be confined to any myopic prism on party lines as he belonged to India. He dwelt upon the life and political struggle of Ambedkar, saying he worked tirelessly for fostering an egalitarian society and shedding caste discrimination in the country.
