National Conference (NC) leader Ajay Sadhotra on Sunday said farmers of J&K were badly hit due to the “wrong and anti-poor policies” of the state as well as the Centre. While addressing a public meeting at Kalase Chak in the Marh block, Sadhotra said the rates of seeds were touching sky.

“Farmers are being harassed and taxed in the name of kisan credit cards and crop insurance. They are being charged for it without being told which company has insured their crops. They are not being given any document regarding the insurance,” he said.

Sadhotra said the farmers had to run from pillar to post but their insurance claim was never given. “The BJP government is fooling the farmers and making a mockery of their miseries. Farmers are the backbone of society. They need to be treated with empathy instead of being pushing to the wall,” he said.

Due to the wrong policies of the BJP government, the youth are completely annoyed and least interested in agriculture and farming. Moreover, the promise of the Modi government to provide 2 crore jobs to the youth had proved to be a hoax, Sadhotra added.
