Mushtaq Chaya re-elected chairman of industry chamber

SRINAGAR: The PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), Kashmir chapter, has formed a 21-member state executive committee to highlight and work towards addressing the issues faced by the business community.

The PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), Kashmir chapter, has formed a 21-member state executive committee to highlight and work towards addressing the issues faced by the business community.

At a meeting held here, well-known hotelier Mushtaq Ahmad Chaya was re-elected the chairman of the PHD Chamber.

Chaya said they had formed the 21-member state executive committee to highlight and address the issues faced by Kashmir Inc. He said as the chairman of the chamber, he would ensure that the concerns of the business community were brought to the notice of the authority concerned and at the same time, they too would work towards harnessing the business potential of the Valley.

"The business potential of Kashmir is yet to be tapped fully. It will be our endeavour to work towards boosting businesses in all sectors of the Kashmir economy," he added.

Chaya said they had also formed five specific expert committees in this regard. These include sports, media and development committee with Tariq Rashid Ghani as the chairman and Shahana Fatima as co-chairman; MSME, textiles, agriculture and horticulture with Bilal Kawoosa as the chairman and Tanveer Shah as co-chairman; committee on retail, FMCG, taxes, roads and other infrastructure with Jan Muhammad Kaul as the chairman and Shazada Saleem Bhat as co-chairman; education, IT, energy, housing, urban development and food processing with Showket Chowdhary as the chairman and Fayaz Ahmad as co-chairman; and travel, tourism environment, entertainment and culture with Vicky Shaw as the chairman and Nasir Shah as co-chairman.
