The fear-stricken minority community in Kishtwar district on Tuesday gave an ultimatum to the authorities to nab the killers of RSS leader Chander Kant Sharma before the polling day or face agitation.

Kishtwar district is part of the Udhampur-Doda Lok Sabha constituency where elections will be held on April 18.

The minority community has already launched an agitation after the killing of Chander Kant, who along with his personal security officer, was gunned down in a hospital in Kishtwar on April 9.

“Our patience is running out. We will not accept any assurance of the inept administration because selective killings of our leaders are going on unabated,” Hans Raj, president, Sanatan Dharam Sabha, Kishtwar, said.

“We have given an ultimatum to the authorities to nab the killers before April 18 when the polling will be held,” he added.

In this communally-sensitive area, the BJP solely depends on the votes from the minority community hence the party leadership is worried over brewing anger among them.

The minority community has reasons to be worried because even after over five months, the authorities have failed to arrest any person in connection with the killing BJP leader Anil Parihar and his brother Ajit Parihar.
