Minimum temperatures dropped sharply across the Kashmir valley and Ladakh region on Wednesday, triggering cold wave conditions.

A met department official said the minimum temperatures were likely to drop further in the coming days. Due to a cloud cover in the last three days, the minimum temperatures had increased across Jammu and Kashmir, bringing respite from the cold wave.

The minimum temperatures in Kargil, Leh, Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Srinagar on Wednesday were -9.3°C, -9.1°C, -8°C, -5°C and 0.2 °C, respectively. Jammu city recorded 9.6°C, Katra 8.2°C, Batote 0°C, Banihal 1.6°C and Bhaderwah 0.3°C as the night’s lowest temperatures. — IANS
