Lt Gen Saranjeet Singh today assumed command of the elite White Knight Corps (16 Corps) from Lt Gen AK Sharma.

In his farewell message, General Sharma complimented all ranks of the White Knight Corps for their professionalism and dedication and thanked the civil administration for the excellent synergy with the Armed Forces.

Lt Gen Saranjeet Singh was commissioned into the Sikh Light Infantry Regiment in 1981. The officer is an alumnus of DSSC, Wellington, Army War College, Mhow and National Defence College, New Delhi. He is well versed with the terrain and existing operational dynamics of the area south of Pir Panjal having commanded a brigade and a division in this region.

The new GOC has also held various operational and staff appointments in field formations and also had tenures in perspective planning directorate and military operations directorate at integrated headquarters of the Ministry of Defence (Army). Before taking the charge of White Knight Corps, the GOC was the Chief of Staff at South Western Command. He has been decorated with Yudh Seva Medal and GOC-in-C, Western Command Commendation Card. On assuming the command of White Knight Corps, he exhorted all ranks to continue working with the same zeal and enthusiasm and always be combat ready to thwart the nefarious designs of enemy and inimical forces. — TNS
