LG of Lakshadweep Farooq Khan bereaved

JAMMU: Sardar Mohammed Sarwar Khan, 87, a former Superintendent of Police, who passed away on Thursday, was laid to rest on Friday evening in the presence of close friends, family members, prominent citizens, political and social figures, advocates, officials from civil and police administration.

Sardar Mohammed Sarwar Khan, 87, a former Superintendent of Police, who passed away on Thursday, was laid to rest on Friday evening in the presence of close friends, family members, prominent citizens, political and social figures, advocates, officials from civil and police administration.

Khan is survived by his wife Khalida Begum, two sons and two daughters, who were by his bedside when he passed away. Sarwar Khan, a descendant of a distinguished family of Jammu, was a popular police officer who retired as a Superintendent of Police. His father Col Peer Mohammed was president of Jan Sangh. His son Sardar Farooq Khan is presently Administrator/LG of Union Territory, Lakshadweep. Khan’s second son Sardar Arif Khan is a noted businessman and known figure in the town.

According to Farooq Khan, Rasam-e-Qul of late Sardar Mohammad Sarwar Khan shall be observed with Quran Khawani on Sunday at their residence from 12 noon to 2 pm.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh expressed sympathy with the family of Sarwar Khan and hoped that the family would be able to bear the loss. The Deputy Chief Minister visited the residence of Farooq Ahmed Khan to offer condolences to the bereaved family. Singh also prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.
