Kulgam blast: Another civilian succumbs to injuries; toll mounts to 7

SRINAGAR: Another civilian, who was injured in a blast at an encounter site in Laroo village of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Sunday, died at a hospital here, taking the toll to seven. His funeral was held on Monday morning in Havoora.

Another civilian, who was injured in a blast at an encounter site in Laroo village of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Sunday, died at a hospital here, taking the toll to seven.

Three militants and six civilians were killed on Sunday — the former in a gunbattle and the latter in a blast at the ‘unsanitised’ encounter site.

Also, 20 persons were injured, a few sustaining bullet and many pellet injuries as the security forces tried to disperse the protesters. 

The civilian, identified as Javed Ahmad Lone of Havoora, succumbed to his injuries at a Srinagar hospital on Sunday night.

His funeral was held on Monday morning in Havoora, following which clashes erupted in Khodweni and Qaimoh. Authorities have imposed restrictions in the main town of Kulgam.
