Jammu doc wins national award

Dr Sushil Sharma, Head of Department of Cardiology, GMCH, Jammu, has been awarded the Double Helical National Health Award 2018 for his outstanding contribution in providing coronary and non-coronary interventions in J&K.

The award was announced by Double Helical, a health journal, at Hotel Lalit in New Delhi on Friday. The event was aimed at honouring health professionals with outstanding contributions.

Doctors, experts from wellness and fitness industries and healthcare service providers were present at the award ceremony organised to encourage healthcare professionals to do quality work and contribute towards the realisation of the vision of “health for all”.

The function was preceded by a short seminar on “Anatomy of affordable healthcare”. Dr CP Thakur, Rajya Sabha MP, was the chief guest. Tariq Anwar, former Minister of State of Agriculture & Food Processing Industries was also present.

Dr Sushil Kumar Sharma has been conferred this award the second time. He has performed over 15,000 simple and complex procedures. Dr Sharma heralded a new era in the field of preventive cardiology by organising health check-up-cum-awareness camps in across the state. He is known for his philanthropic initiatives.
