Chandigarh, July 5

Jammu and Kashmir will file an appeal against the acquittal of the accused in the Kathua case.

As the appeals came up for resumed hearing before the division bench headed by Justice Rajiv Sharma, a counsel made a statement to this effect.

The counsel also sought time to argue the matter on the grounds that the state was to issue a notification appointing a special public prosecutor for appearing before the high court.

The counsel said a special public prosecutor was earlier appointed for putting up appearance before the trial court.

The case will come up for further hearing on July 18.
