Governor briefed on J&K Bank initiatives

SRINAGAR: Parvez Ahmed, chairman, Jammu and Kashmir Bank, on Saturday briefed Governor Satya Pal Malik about various initiatives of the bank, such as transparency in functioning and professionalisation of the board.

Parvez Ahmed, chairman, Jammu and Kashmir Bank, on Saturday briefed Governor Satya Pal Malik about various initiatives of the bank, such as transparency in functioning and professionalisation of the board.

He apprised the Governor of various prospective areas identified by the bank to enhance productive lending of Rs 11,000 crore in J&K over a period of next three or four years to be driven by sectors, like housing, agriculture, horticulture, SME, gold loans, etc. Parvez requested Malik to take up the matter of bringing the horticulture sector within the ambit of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana to protect the farmers in the horticulture sector which too at times is affected by the vagaries of unseasonal climate.

JKPSC chairman meets Malik

At another meeting, Abdul Latief U Zaman Deva, Chairman, Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC), briefed the Governor about the continuing improvements being made by the commission by progressively enhancing the use of technology in the conduct of exams and interviews and bringing all processes online to ensure greater transparency and efficiency.
