A daylong farmers’ training programme on “Networking projects on revival of village ponds through scientific intervention” was organised by the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences (SKUAST), Jammu, in collaboration with the department of science and technology (DST) at Uttri village in Kathua.

The project is sponsored by the DST and is being carried out under the supervision and guidance of PK Sharma, SKUAST Vice Chancellor; Bhoop Singh, Natural Resources Data Management System head; AK Singh, DST principal scientific officer; JP Sharma, SKUAST research director, SS Kukal, Punjab Agricultural University project coordinator; and Prof DP Abrol, dean, faculty of arts, SKUAST. Vivak M Arya, project in charge, said there was an acute problem of deficit irrigation supplies to farmers in the Kandi area during the kharif and rabi seasons, thereby affecting the productivity of the crops.
