Jammu, January 8

The Bari Brahmana Industries Association on Tuesday demanded that the incentive package announced by the Central government should be extended to new units and units under expansion.

Addressing a meeting of association members, president Lalit Mahajan said more units should get the benefit of the package.

“During our meetings with the previous PDP-BJP government, it was promised that state fiscal incentives shall be extended immediately after the extension of the Central package. This should now be done,” Mahajan said. He said industries in the state were suffering due to the turmoil during the last three decades and needed long-term financial help.

He said a robust industrial sector in the state could provide jobs to thousands of youth and check unemployment.
