Jammu, January 10

The higher education department has started the preparations for mobilising the fresh batch of students for admissions under the Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS) for the academic year 2019-20.

In this regard, higher education commissioner secretary Sarita Chauhan chaired a meeting of functionaries concerned to review the preparations at various levels.

During the meeting, a number of decisions were taken regarding the preparation for admission and online counselling for 2019-20. These were taken in the follow-up to the decisions taken in the 22nd meeting of the inter-ministerial committee.

In order to spread awareness and give closer guidance to the interested and eligible students on the actual conduct of the admission and online counselling, it was decided that a series of workshops will be held in both Jammu and Kashmir divisions.

In the first phase, a workshop for principals of 600 higher secondary schools and 34 government degree colleges where facilitation centres are set up will be held in Jammu on January 30 and in Srinagar on February 14.

The meeting was informed that the second series of the workshop will be held for coordinators of higher secondary schools and facilitation centres of government degree colleges concerned during the third week of March. The third series for students, parents and other stakeholders will be held from April 14 for 10 days simultaneously.
