DGP inspects city jail

Director General of Police (Prisons) Dilbag Singh today reviewed security in Central Jail, Srinagar.

The DGP (Prisons) inspected the jail to familiarise himself with the topography and layout to help in making better security arrangements besides taking appropriate security precautions in view of the location of the jail. The jail is situated in the densely populated area with Rainawari on the one side, and Badamwari on the other side.

A high-level security meeting was also held to discuss security measures. It also discussed the requirement for basic infrastructure and gadgets.

The DGP directed all stakeholders to be extra vigilant in view of the security situation in the Valley. This was the first visit of Dilbag Singh to Central Jail, Srinagar, after taking over as head of the Prison Department. With today’s visit, Dilbagh Singh, who had been camping in Srinagar for the past three days, has completed security review of all jails located in the Kashmir valley.
