Jammu, July 19

Leading industrialists on Thursday blamed negative industrial growth in the state on the Centre’s failure to extend fiscal incentives at par with the Northeastern states.

A delegation of the Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) raised the issue with Dineshwar Sharma, interlocutor appointed by the Centre for J&K.

During the meeting, BBIA president Rajiv Mahajan claimed that lack of incentives for the manufacturing units was resulting into flight of capital from J&K. He sought inclusion of industrial goods being manufactured in the state in the cross-LoC trade.

The BBIA also raised issues regarding the non-issuance of notifications for the grant of budgetary support of 2 per cent in lieu of central sales tax and freight subsidy approved by the state Budget for the year 2018-19. — TNS
