Bodies of seven avalanche victims airlifted

LEH:Bodies of seven labourers, who were killed in an avalanche at Khardung La, were airlifted to Padum, Zanskar, on Sunday from the Leh technical airport area for the last rites at their native places.

Bodies of seven labourers, who were killed in an avalanche at Khardung La, were airlifted to Padum, Zanskar, on Sunday from the Leh technical airport area for the last rites at their native places.

The Leh administration had made arrangements to airlift the bodies to their native places. The bodies were lifted in two sorties.

Ten labourers of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited were buried alive under a huge wall of snow on January 18. The labourers were loading snow onto a truck for making a helipad. Seven bodies have been recovered during the last two days of the rescue and search operation. Three labourers are still missing. — TNS
