Jammu, February 17

The BJP has expressed concern over development projects getting into cold storage during the BJP-PDP rule.

In a press release issued today, Virender Gupta, BJP spokesman, said the project for widening the BC road and constructing a flyover over it was not expected to start at least during this dispensation. A flyover from Shakuntla to Ambphalla was envisaged in 2003 and Rs 35 crore was sanctioned by the Asian Development Bank for the project.

“It is unfortunate that the PWD Minister has completely ignored the BC road project and widening of the road connecting Ambphalla with Janipur and the one connecting Jewal Chowk with Talab Tillo,” said Gupta.

He said the construction of an artificial lake, which started in 2008-09, and the construction of a pathway and parks along the bank of the Tawi on the pattern of the Sabarmati needed to be started on a war footing to develop Jammu as a tourist destination.

He said the Bahu Fort cable car project, which was planned in 2002, should be completed at the earliest. He also expressed concern on the slow pace of work on the Patnitop rope project, which was planned about 10 years ago.

Gupta said the projects he mentioned were of prime importance and appealed to the ministers and departments concerned to put in efforts to complete these.
