Jammu, August 21

Expressing concern for the overall progress of Jammu on different fronts, the BJP national vice-president and in-charge of J&K, Avinash Rai Khanna, said he would be working in a time-bound manner to bring about social and economic growth of Jammu.

Khanna said he visited historical and religious places located in Sudhmahadev and Mantalai areas of the Chenani Assembly constituency falling in Udhampur on August 16 and interacted with the people on the issues that needed to be addressed. “I received representations from Shrimad Jagatguru Shankaracharya Anant ji, Shri Swami Amritanand Dev Tirath ji and the local committee, Chenani, wherein, they raised various issues and sought help of the government for the development of places like Sudhmahadev and Mantalai,” said Khanna .

Khanna wrote letters to J&K Governor Satya Pal Malik and Union Tourism Minister Prahlad Singh Patel to bring about development of these historical and religious places. Khanna, in his letters, separately to the Governor and the Union Minister mentioned he had visited these places which were largely visited by devotees but lacked basic amenities. He said such areas had the potential for religious tourism and needed to be developed. The development of these areas would promote tourism and generate employment for locals. — TNS
