Jammu, November 21
The J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu, today once again opposed the proposed shifting of the High Court from Janipur to Raika and shifting of registration powers from Judicial Magistrate to revenue authorities.
Members of the Bar association have been on an indefinite strike since November 1. The office-bearers and members of advisory committee met Gita Mittal, Chief Justice, J&K High Court, and discussed both issues. The Chief Justice clarified that no decision had been taken to shift the High Court.
Abhinav Sharma, president, Bar Association, said the J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu, had already filed an application before the Supreme Court supported by an affidavit by the then general secretary Prem N Sadotra that the Bar Association, Jammu, supports abrogation of Article 370 & Article 35 A.
He said, “Any statement made by a group or individual linking issue of registration of documents raised by the J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu, with abrogation of Article 370 and Article 35 A or with the demand of statehood is for their personal vested interests.”
