Jammu, July 20

Seeking intervention of the administration, employees of the State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) who took voluntarily retirement about eight years back have sought release of benefits.

A protest was staged by the former employees under the banner of the All J&K SRTC Volunteers Retired Employees’ Association on Friday, who alleged that successive governments had befooled 742 employees who took voluntary retirement after the then NC-Congress government in 2010 asked them to do so due to the poor financial condition of the corporation.

“We appeal to the state to look into our problem and address our legitimate concern. We have no faith in political parties like the NC, Congress, PDP and BJP,” said Dev Raj, association president.

The members raised slogans against the J&K transport department for the continued delay in the release of dues of the 6th Pay Commission and cost of living allowance arrears pending since 1999. — TNS
