Adviser to Governor K Skandan on Saturday reviewed the functioning of the Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) at Bari Brahmana.

The meeting was attended by industries and commerce department additional secretary Ramesh Kumar, JKEDI director Tufail Mattoo and district nodal officers of JKEDI, Jammu division.

The Adviser was briefed on the achievement of the institute in terms of developing entrepreneurial culture in the state and the performance of the district offices.

Skandan asked the JKEDI to work on the data of the unemployed youth available with the district employment and counselling centre and create a roadmap for enabling them with livelihood options. He focused on the innovative and modern approach to be adopted for upgrading the working style by the institute. “Tie-ups with reputed resources nationally and internationally to acquire the mentorship must be pursued, which will enable the start-up culture to flourish in state.”

Earlier, Mattoo gave a brief presentation on the profile and working of the institute. He said under the Seed Capital Fund Scheme, they had established 6,632 units, generating 28,575 jobs; 1,384 units under the Youth Startup Loan Scheme, generating 3,424 jobs; and 5,704 units had been established under the Term Loan Scheme of the National Minorities Development and Finance Corporation, generating 11,408 jobs.
