SRINAGAR: The Adviser to Governor, Khursheed Ahmad Ganai, on Monday held meetings with public at the Baramulla and Kupwara district headquarters in north Kashmir.

The Adviser to Governor, Khursheed Ahmad Ganai, on Monday held meetings with public at the Baramulla and Kupwara district headquarters in north Kashmir.

Several public delegations, deputations and organisations met him at Kupwara and apprised him of their grievances, issues and demands. These included traders' federation of Kupwara, former legislators of Kupwara and Lolab, senior citizens of Lalpora, Lolab, Zachaldara, Wadipora and Trehgam, newly elected sarpanchs and panchs of Kupwara, and Langate Municipal Committees, fruit growers' association, Langate, transporters' association of Kupwara etc.

Earlier, Ganai inaugurated a book fair organised by the Chief Education Office, Kupwara. He distributed books to 40 students of the various schools.

In Baramulla, over 21 delegations apprised the adviser about their demands.

A delegation of fruit association of Sopore sought adequate compensation for orchardists who suffered due to the recent snowfall. It also sought facilities of portable drinking water, bathroom etc at the fruit mandi in Sopore.

Another delegation of Sanatan Dharma sought construction of an embankment at the Shielpatri temple that is located on the banks of the Jhelum. It also demanded the removal of encroachments on lands notified for Hindu shrines.
