ADGP lauds counter-insurgency squad

Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Armed, SM Sahai appreciated the role of counter-insurgency (CI) squad of the Armed Police for displaying exemplary professionalism in neutralising both fidayeen involved in the recent attack on the Raj Bagh police station in Kathua.

He was addressing a darbar of the IRP and 15th battalions here in Jammu.

Sahai lauded the efforts of the CI squad for showing professionalism and neutralising both fidayeen without any collateral damage.

“I feel proud of being the chief of the J&K Armed Police when my officers and men discharge and perform tedious assignments extraordinarily,” Sahai said.

The ADGP said the J&K Armed Police had played a pivotal role in combating militancy and maintaining law and order in the state. Citing the example of latest meeting of the Police Establishment Board, he said 57 police personnel were promoted out of turn on the basis of their exemplary performance on anti-militancy front amongst which 45 belonged to the J&K Armed Police.

He said it was in itself a testimony to the fact that the Armed Police had always been at the forefront during testing times. “Be it tackling the decades long militancy in the state, maintenance of law and order or the duties during elections, Shri Amarnath Yatra, rescuing lives and property of people during natural disasters, the Armed Police has always proved its mettle and come up to expectations,” he added.

Paying tributes to the martyrs who laid down their lives while protecting life and property of people, the ADGP said, “I feel proud in saying that the J&K Armed Police is blessed with men of substance whose mention will be made in the history of the J&K Police in golden words.”
