Jammu, December 21

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Friday staged a protest against the alleged corruption in welfare works being carried out at Sri Ranbir Multilateral Model Higher Secondary School, which has been declared a heritage model school.

ABVP activists raised slogans against the school management and alleged that there were irregularities and corruption in developmental works being carried out in the school.

“The school has been declared as a heritage institution. Its boundary wall was damaged without any prior consultation of experts and is being rebuilt with old bricks while exaggerated bills were shown in the name of development. This needs to be probed to fix accountability,” Akhshit Baru, president, Parade zone of the ABVP, said.

The protesters alleged the school management sold iron bars in the form of scrap which were imported by the then maharaja from United Kingdom at the time of construction of the school.

JS Soodan, chief education officer, Jammu, said he was yet to get details from the principal of the school. He said the Secretary, school education department, Ajit Kumar Sahu had sought a report on the issue after he visited the school a couple of days back. — TNS
