6 arrested with heroin, cannabis from 3 districts of Jammu region

Jammu, December 6

Six people were arrested with heroin and cannabis from three districts of Jammu region, the police said on Wednesday.

The arrests were made during checking drives in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch, Jammu and Udhampur districts on Tuesday.

The police nabbed Abdul Rashid and Mushtaq Ahmed, residents of south Kashmir’s Shopian district, from Ayurvedic Chowk in Jammu and more than 1 kg of cannabis was seized from them, an officer said.

In another case, Ravika and Gurdeep Singh of Punjab were arrested from the Balolo bridge area with 10 gm of heroin, he said.

In Udhampur, Ranbir Singh alias Rambo was arrested with 6 gm of heroin from Barrian. The police suspected he was part of a gang of smugglers operating in the region, the officer said.

Qamur Hussain was nabbed in Poonch with 540 gm of heroin, he said.

Cases had been registered against them and investigations were under way, the officer said. PTI
