With an aim to serving the nation, 575 youths from the state joined the Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry of the Indian Army today.
The passing-out parade of the latest batch of the young soldiers from the state was held at the Regimental Centre in Srinagar.
The recruit course serial number 118, on having completed one year of strenuous training, was attested at a parade at the Bana Singh Parade ground of JAK LI RC. The passing-out parade, depicting the graduation of a recruit and his transformation into a young soldier, was reviewed by Lt-Gen Ashwani Kumar, Adjutant General and attended by parents and relatives of young soldiers from the state, besides a number of civil and military officials.
The young soldiers of the regiment, hailing from all regions and religions of the state, marching in precise unison with the singular aim of devoting their lives in service of the nation, singing their regimental song “Balidanam Veer Lakshnam”, inspired one and all as their voice echoed at the place. Their salute to the Tricolour, with national anthem playing, inspired patriotic fervour amongst all present on the occasion.
The Adjutant General congratulated the young soldiers for the immaculate parade and impressed upon them to do selfless service towards the nation. He praised their contribution towards encouraging more and more youths from J&K to come forward to join the security forces and also highlighted the vital role played by their parents in motivating their wards to join this noble profession. The young soldiers who excelled in varied courses of training were also felicitated by the General Officer. Recruit Sawan Kumar received the Sher-e-Kashmir Sword of Honour and Triveni Singh medal for being the “Over all Best Recruit” and Pankaj Kumar bagged the “Chewang Rinchen Medal” for being “Best in Firing”. The proud parents and relatives pipped the soldiers ready to join their battalions.
