Man held for killing woman

The police on Saturday claimed to have solved a murder case of a woman by arresting the accused. The body of a 52-year-old woman was found in an orchard at Johama, on the outskirts of Baramulla town, on Friday afternoon. The accused was identified as Gulzar Ahmad Malik of Sumbal who was presently residing at Delina Ghat. tns

District heads nominated Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday nominated five new district presidents in order to further strengthen the party. According to a party spokesperson here, Mehbooba nominated Shafeeq-ur-Rehman for Reasi, Faqir Chand Bhagat for Jammu rural, Harmesh Salatia for Samba, Surinder Singh for Kathua and Irshad Kar for Baramulla district. tns

Tribal advisory board 

Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has appointed Gujjar leader Gulzar Ahmad Khatana as the new vice-chairperson of the J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Gujjars and Bakerwals. Khatana’s appointment came after Choudhary Zafar Ali stepped down from the post. tns
