3 Jaish militants held in Budgam

Three Jaish-e-Mohammed militants were arrested in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Saturday evening, the police said.

The militants have been identified as Mohammad Maqbool Malla and Gowher Ahmad, both from Bandzoo, and Azad Ahmad Lone from Lalhar, Pulwama. They were arrested by a naka party in Budgam on Saturday, the police said.

Following an intelligence input, a checkpoint was established by men of the Special Operations Group of the J&K Police, 53 Rashtriya Rifles and 43 Battalion CRPF. During checking, security personnel spotted some suspicious activity in a vehicle, a senior police officer said. As the vehicle was intercepted, one of the militants tried to lob a grenade. Before he could act, he was apprehended along with his two associates, he said. One pistol, an SLR and three hand grenades were recovered from the trio, he said. — TNS

Petrol bomb hurled  

Srinagar: A petrol bomb was hurled at security forces on Sunday afternoon in Srinagar’s Parimpora  locality, the police said. The petrol bomb was hurled at security men when they were withdrawing after a law and order duty from the area. “No one was injured in the attack,” a police officer said. TNS
