Residents of the Kashtighar area of Doda district on Thursday took out a protest rally over the alleged murder of a youth.

The body of 24-year-old Majid Hussain, a resident of Gillasu, Kashtighar, was found with injury marks on his face on Wednesday night at 10.30 pm, but the situation in the area turned tense after a violent mob set ablaze the house of one of the suspects.

The family members and locals carried the body of the youth and took out a protest rally in the town, demanding strict punishment for the culprits and fair probe into the incident.

“Majid went missing from his shop under mysterious circumstances on Wednesday morning. His family members and locals found his body in the fields near to his house late in the evening. The deceased had injury marks on his face,” a local said.

“We have lost our loved one, we want the police should properly investigate the incident and take a strong action against the culprits,” the uncle of the deceased said.

Doda Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mohammed Shabir Malik said, “The body of the youth was found in the fields on Wednesday night. A violent mob set ablaze the house of one of the suspects in the night, but timely actionby the police saved the family members.”

“We have sent the police teams at the spot to control the law and order situation. Two suspects have been detained and a case has also been registered,” the SSP added.

Meanwhile, Doda Deputy Commissioner Anshul Garg told the media, “It’s an unfortunate incident. But we will deal with such elements strongly. The police have also started a probe into the incident by constituting multiple investigation teams.”
