2 Armymen injured in ongoing encounter in Kupwara

Two soldiers were injured in an ongoing anti-militancy operation in frontier district of Kupwara on Monday.

The militants and the Army have intermittently exchanged fire since midnight near Batpora forests, in Kupwara over 110 kms from Srinagar, after a group of infiltrators was intercepted by the forces.  

“In the operation, two of our jawans received minor injuries. There is no confirmation about any militant death so far and the operations is underway,” a security officer said.

There are some reports that one militant has been killed in the gunfight so far.

Additional forces have been rushed to the area to ensure that no militant manages to escape.
