Reacting to the news report “Roads awaiting completion”, which appeared in these columns on April 27, the Additional Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister has sought a report from the Engineer-in-Chief of the PWD.

The report had highlighted the deplorable plight of three roads –Parwanoo-Jangeshu-Kasauli-Dharampur Road, Kamli-Bhojnagar Road and Chakki-Bhojnagar Road, where despite the presence of Central grant worth Rs 21 crore, the repair and maintenance had failed to be undertaken.

Additional Principal Secretary to the CM Sanjay Kundu said a two week period has been granted to the PWD to take necessary action and submit an action taken report to the CM’s office. The plight of the roads as highlighted by the news was abysmally poor and despite the contractor having failed to execute the repair within the stipulated one year, he had been granted several opportunities to complete the work.

Iillegal dumping of building waste in McLeodganj

The state government would act against those dumping construction waste and muck along hillsides in McLeodganj. Taking cognizance of the report published in these columns, Additional Principal Secretary of the CM, Sanjay Kundu has written to the Forest and Urban Development Departments to take action against those dumping construction waste in McLeodganj area and submit a report to his office in two weeks. People carrying out construction work in Dharamsala are scarring the hills with muck of dismantled building. Many new constructions are coming up in tourist places of McLeodganj and Bhagsunag.
