Two-time BJP MLA from the Anni constituency in Kullu district, Kishori Lal (48) feels there is a need to do much more for the development of his constituency. Born in Panvi village under gram panchayat Lot of the Anni constituency, he did his graduation from Government Degree College, Rampur. He did his Masters of Arts in public administration and Bachelors of Law from Himachal Pradesh University.

Kishori Lal had joined the ABVP during his college days, but he never contested any student body elections during his college and university days. He is also associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh since 2006. In 2002, he was elected president of the Schedule Caste Morcha of Anni Mandal and held the post till 2007. In 2003, he was the BJP’s covering candidate from the Anni constituency while in 2007, the BJP relied on him and gave him a chance to contest the election.

Kishori Lal won the election and entered the Himachal Vidhan Sabha for the first time, but in the year 2012, in the state Assembly elections, he lost the political battle to Congress candidate Khoob Ram. In 2017, the Congress had changed its candidate and gave the party ticket to a new candidate, Paras Ram, which paved the way for the win of the BJP candidate. BJP MLA Kishori Lal defeated his arch rival Paras Ram with a margin of 5,983 votes. He is a member of the state executive committee and a member of the National Scheduled Caste Morcha. Talking to the Himachal Tribune, the MLA said “my objective will be to develop beautiful places for tourism purpose, for which there is a vast potential here in the Anni area. Apart from this, road connectivity and potable water facilities are the other major issues on which I am working to make the life of the people of the region easier.

“Construction of a tunnel under the Jalori pass to connect outer Seraj of the Anni area with Kullu district is a major demand of the people in this area. The project was hanging fire for the past many years and I want to expedite it.
