“Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, former president of Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee, had strengthened the Congress organisation during his six years tenure”, said Rajender Zar, former vice-president of the state Congress committee here on Monday”. He said no one removed Sukhu from the post of the president, but it was Sukhu who gave his resignation to AICC president Rahul Gandhi. He said the instalation of Kuldeep Rathor as the HPCC chief was done with the consent of Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and other senior leaders of state Congress committee, including former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh.

Zar said it was wrong to say that the Congress was divided, instead, the Congress had emerged strong and was looking forward to win all four seats in the coming Lok Sabha elections.

He said Rathor had long political experience and had served the party at various positions. His experience would surely benefit the party.

Speaking on the performance of the NDA government, Zar said the Modi-led government had failed on all fronts, including price hike, job generation, nation security and its major programmes of demonetising and goods and service tax.
