The district Health Department today organised an awareness workshop for private chemists regarding maintenance of records pertaining to Tuberculosis and Schedule-H1 drugs, which can be sold only if prescribed by a medical practitioner.

Dr Prakash Daroch, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), said details of sale of all drugs under the Schedule – H1 category, including those for the treatment of TB should be entered in the registers.

He said while medicines for TB were available at government hospitals, there were patients who purchased these drugs from private stores, adding that if the records were maintained, the health authorities would know if the patient was actually taking the drugs or not.

The chemists were educated regarding the registers and records to be maintained for sale of Schedule-H1 drugs.

Dr Praveen Chaudhary, programme officer, district TB control, Munish Chadda, president of the district chemists association, and Amarjeet Singh, general secretary, were also present.
