Work on 8 roads in Bhattiyat under way

The construction of 8 roads in Bhattiyat Assembly constituency of Chamba district has been undertaken under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).

Giving this information here today, HP State Pollution Control Board Chairman Kuldeep Singh Pathania said funds to the tune of Rs 28 crore were being spent on the construction of these roads. He said during the past four years of the Congress regime, 25 km new roads had been constructed, adding that 65 km new roads had been metalled during this period.

“The Bhattiyat assembly segment has a network of 407 km metalled roads while hardly 70 km roads were yet to be metalled,” Pathania revealed while mentioning about the road connectivity of Bhattiyat with neighbouring areas.

Pathania said two road projects had been assigned to Bhattiyat area under the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) scheme, which included the Patka-Hathidhaar and Bagdhaar-Khui roads. Out of these two roads, one had been completed, he added.

Work on the Nurpur-Sanjhi Nala-Lahroo-Tunnuhatti road, which had already been allocated to Bhattiyat area under the NABARD scheme, was in progress, Pathania asserted.opened at Kakira. A new degree college had been opened at Sihunta, Pathania said.
