Won’t deviate from agenda for event: BJP

The state BJP’s two-day “Training of Trainers Programme” began without any fireworks at Bharwain near Chintpurni today.

As part of the “Maha Sampark Abhiyaan”, the programme aims at educating new party workers.

The event was expected to be stormy (in the backdrop of recent acrimonious exchanges between some leaders), but the leaders claimed that there would be no deviation from the agenda.

They evaded media queries on organisational matters, claiming that all was well in the party.

As many as 76 leaders out of the 83 are expected to attend the meet. Union Health Minister JP Nadda, Former Chief Ministers Shanta Kumar and Prem Kumar Dhumal, state party president Satpal Singh ‘Satti’, sitting BJP MPs and MLAs will be in attendance. Lok Sabha MP from Hamirpur Anurag Thakur did not make it.

JP Nadda, Shanta Kumar, PK Dhumal and Satpal Singh ‘Satti’ arrived together at the venue after paying obeisance at the Chintpurni shrine.

Nadda said they had come only for the training programme. He said: “The state party organisation had done well by enrolling 11 lakh new members.” Later, the leaders headed straight to the meeting venue and paid floral tributes to Pt Deendayal Upadhyay, BJP MLA and camp in charge Rajiv Bindal said the party activists, trained at the camp, would hold such camps at the block level. He said Union Health Minister JP Nadda would speak on the history and development of the BJP, Shanta Kumar on character development, Prem Kumar Dhumal on achievements of the state BJP governments and Satpal Satti on how to take the training programmes to the village level. National vice-president Avinash Rai Khanna will deliver a talk on work culture of the BJP, Prof Kuldip Agnihotri on integral humanism and state party in charge Srikant Sharma on the achievements and challenges of the NDA government. He made it clear that the inner party matters would not be raised at the meeting.
